Description
Cover attached. The first edition is dated Kaei 5 (1852), and is reproduced in: Nihon kochizu taisei, sekaizu hen, pl. 96. Insets: (Beans 1853.2) 以南極為心圖 Nankyoku o motte shin to nasu no zu (Hemisphere with the South Pole at its centre); (Beans 1853.3) 以北極為心圖 Hokkyoku o motte shin to nasu no zu (Hemisphere with the North Pole at its centre); (Beans 1853.4) 東半球 Higashi hankyū (Eastern hemisphere); (Beans 1853.5) 西半球 Nishi hankyū (Western hemisphere). All four hemispheres, which are along the bottom left of the map, are on a stereographic projection.
